AMERICA!

I'M HOME! Which is awesome, even though I have no phones. Ah well. Hopefully, the spirit of christmas will work with me and let me have my old cell phone number back. Cross your fingers for me.
So yeah, coming home was fine, except my first two flights were delayed, which made me very very nervous but it's all good. (The second flight being the one from london to Chicago!) But! Awesomeness, I got to sit in business class on that flight which was great, and even more so because I had my (window) seat and then the seat next to me. Woohoo! So although it was the LONGEST flight ever (due to extremely strong headwinds or some such crap) it could have been much worse. And it was made even better by the fact that Sam was waiting for me at O'Hare :-). YAY! That was wonderful, and all guys should take that as an example of what to do. Cause it's sweet :-). So that was just fabulous.
Went to bed at around 8 pm then monday night and slept from 8 30 or so to 10 30 straight. Woohoo! and I was still tired enough to go to bed at a reasonable hour last night (that being like 1 or something, but still. that's pretty reasonable for vacation).
So yesterday I hung out around here for awhile (watched Roman Holiday!!!!) then went over to Alex's to play Risk. Followed by back here for dinner and then once suzanne got home we went over to Jon's house and I shared the joy of Siedler. woohoo! good times, noodle salad. Driving home from Jon's was frightening though because the winter storm we're in the middle of had just started, so that there was a layer of icy rain and then snow on top of it. And Suzanne was driving the Civic (which is stick) so wheee. But we made it.
Speaking of the storm, hopefully we'll be able to shovel out of our driveway, but the corolla is already stuck on the little hill in it. And that is nothing compared to the hills getting out of our neighborhood. So I'm probably stuck here for the time being. Which those of you from Evansville who I grew up with know that it's really no surprise. It's virtually impossible to get up the hill at top of which the entrance to my neighborhood is when it is snowy/icy/etc. Ah well. All of the streets out here where I live tend to be really dangerous whenever it's snowing, because they don't get priority for being tended by the snowplows and all that stuff and they're all hilly, winding roads. So yeah. Fun times. Hopefully we can get out so that I can get to sprint and fight for my phone number. :-(. I really, really don't want to have to get a new one.
So for now I'm sitting here listening to Christmas music and just having a lovely time. But I should take a shower or grab a shovel or something.
*when it snows, ain't it thrillin, though your nose gets a chillin*

Break from Essay

I just need to take this time to say:

ok I'm done :-)

(that was orginally a much larger and powerful scream, but it didn't work w/ the formatting of my blog so I shortened it.)

Oh My God!

Alison's Updating!!!!!

So I really should be working. But I haven't worked for the last, mmm, 3 hours, and I don't think I'm going to work right now, so I'd figure I'd let everyone know that I'm still alive. Since my last update, I guess a lot has happened. Sort of? Mostly my life has just involved a ton of work. Mom, Stephen and Bradley came to visit the week of thanksgiving... their visit flew by (they were only here about 4.5 days) but it was so nice to see them! Also just a lot of fun to be around them :-) Makes me excited to come home! We definitely had chinese food for thanksgiving... yes, we're that cool.
What else? Sickness went away, after a week, yes, a week of not being able to do anything. The real flu, influenza, which has to be the work of satan. What else could it be? ;-) in anycase, it then got me behind in all my classes, and by the time I was caught up, finals and papers were happening. So yeah. Now I have 12 days left in Germany, 9 til everything is due (but I have to have it finished by wednesday, because I have to spend thursday packing and cleaning, because at 11 am Friday, I'm moving out. Followed by crashing in christine's room for the weekend, before I leave freiburg at 4 am monday the 20th!). My work is definitely doable, it's just the actual sitting down and doing it that's the problem. Ah well, I finished my Politics essay on monday, (hooray!) and had my History final today. so I'm making (very slow) progress. If only it weren't all in German! ;-).
Moving out itself is going to be more fun than a barrel of monkeys. . . I have to clean the whole apartment. As our super/incharge/haus master said: mop everything, dust everything in your room w/ a wet cloth, clean both bathrooms, hallway and kitchen. AAAGGGGHHHH. not cool. also considering I'm going to have to 1. do it by myself and 2. pray that it doesn't become dirty between when I clean it and when herr babes comes. (his name is actually pronounced bahbisch but I refuse to say it that way b/c it sounds funnier to say babes. as in hot babes. cept he's not hot. ah, nevermind ;-))
SO! for those of you in eville, I'll technically get home the 20th (pretty early, too, around 6 or 7ish probably) but will most likely feel like crap, so for all intents and purposes, I'll be home the 21st. That means, call me like asap the 21st. Except now apparantly my mom cancelled the landline so I guess just im me asap? Oh well.
For those of you in chicago, or who will be in chicago for new years, SO WILL I!!!! I'll be going up the 30th and there until classes start. woohoo. Also, if you have a big car and want to let me use it sunday morning before classes (that is, the 2nd of jan) that would be fabulous because I need to transport stuff from storage (and the gaffield) to KD.
Ok, so that's my life. it's pretty dull right now. I'm sorry :-( I also don't promise that I'll be updating this anytime soon... soooooooo I love you all and miss you and can't wait to see you! (in 12 or 22 days!)

*Monday morning, you sure look fine!*

PS. Things I forgot:
- we had an earthquake, 5.4, officially making it the strongest one I've experienced.
- for those of you who know herr paluch (german dept.), apparantly he broke his arm in switzerland? in anycase, he was supposed to be here today but I guess he had to go back to the US. :-( sadness. however, I'm hoping it was something else (less painful?), because I got it like, 3rd hand. possibly 4th. inanycase, a long way down the grapevine.
- freiburg has a weihnachsmarkt (christmas market) that is 1. adorable and 2. delicious. lots of glühwein (read: spiced wine) and yummy foods! SO fun :-)
ok, time to get back to essay land. . .
