Best News Story EVER

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051117/od_nm/japan_radish_dc;_ylt=AvsfKscu5HdDSniK3XrjU1ms0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA3NW1oMDRpBHNlYwM3NTc-

My favorite part is the final line: "Asked why the radish -- more often found on Japanese dinner tables as a garnish, pickle or in "oden" stew -- had so many fans, town spokesman Jiro Matsuo said: "People discouraged by tough times were cheered by its tenacity and strong will to live."

Also, for those of you who go to NU and who know Derlugian, I think you will enjoy the excerpt from an email he sent out today: "The filmed should be shown on Friday at 2-5PM and on Sunday and on Monday at 6-10PM. The Video Forum is that temple of dark crystal at the top of ziggurat-like steep stairs to your right as you enter the Library." I think this is a pretty good description of it ;-).
